Members MAKleather Posted July 24 Members Report Posted July 24 I received a buttload of tools and hardware from a gentleman who taught leatherwork at a local high school in the 70s+ he spent over 35yrs teaching. These wooden tools were in the same drawer as some strap cutters. First thought is clamps but they don’t work intuitively like that so figured someone here might be able to shed some light. Quote
Members SUP Posted July 24 Members Report Posted July 24 These are ring clamps, normally used by jewelers to hold rings and other items tight while working on them. Members SUP Posted July 24 Members Report Posted July 24 I have one that is pretty big. They are clamps certainly though. Quote Learning is a life-long journey.

There was once a fashion for reproduction Elizabethan Tudor ring purses. These could be used for holding the ring whilst the bag of the purse was sewn on. Tandy used to sell the rings Quote Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..
Members SUP Posted July 24 Members Report Posted July 24 I got mine as a ring clamp. It is large but it is more comfortable to work with than a small one would be. Just because rings are small there is no reason why the clamps for them should be tiny too. This one holds rings well, which is why I bought it but it holds leather straps just as well.
