Hi All,

if I use resolene over antique paste, can I use Aussie leather conditioner on the leather after the resolene has dried?

thanks

Moved your post to Dyes, Antiques, Stains, Glues, Waxes, Finishes and Conditioners.  You should check this forum out.  Lots of good info and experience here.

Resolene seals the surface of the leather.  So conditioners such as oils and greases don't penetrate the sealant.

If the flesh side isn’t sealed, can it be oiled/conditioned from there?

Aussie's is mainly petroleum jelly. It could make the flesh side sticky.

Learning is a life-long journey.

What would be the purpose of the conditioner???

Resolene pretty much seals up the leather . . . I've never put on 4 or 5 coats . . . but I'd come close to betting that it would be water proof by then.

May God bless,

If you can breathe, . . . thank God.

If you can read, . . . thank a teacher.

If you are reading this in English, . . . thank a veteran.

My thought was that it would help keep the veg tan a little more pliable. (I have NFO and saddle soap though)

Usually I stiffen leather, and use 6-8oz instead of 3-4oz, so this is just the opposite end of the spectrum for me to learn.
