Members WalterF Posted Sunday at 04:02 AM Members Report Posted Sunday at 04:02 AM Wanted to try a building, The Alamo seemed like a good project. It was more difficult than anticipated, larger size would make it easier. The size was 7.5 x 10, seemed big enough when printing the piece, plus it is hard to find a lot bigger piece on a belly. With the price of bellies it gives me more freedom to try and not be afraid of the cost of failure, just have to read the leather for proper moisture content. Quote

I would suggest having a little figure carving experience. Different stamps are used than in floral, mainly the bevelers designed completely different. My Bear and Son's Bowie knife came today, it needs a fitting sheat for it. The knife is made in Jacksonville, Alabama. My home state. Edited yesterday at 05:53 AM by WalterF add photo Quote

I'd say load up the pickup with the knife and come on up . . . would be fun to make a sheath for that beauty May God bless, Dwight Quote If you can breathe, . . . thank God. CFM chuck123wapati Posted yesterday at 01:44 PM CFM Report Posted yesterday at 01:44 PM very cool!!!! you give me inspiration as well as others on the site I'm sure. Much more creative than a cut-and-paste laser image IMO. My old art teacher would say. Put some shadow texture in to ground your cannon and building a bit. She is a blessing to be entrusted with her. 9 hours ago, chuck123wapati said: very cool!!!! you give me inspiration as well as others on the site I'm sure. Thank you, shadows would help, need too see how it could be done. In photography the picture is made in the shadows. Finished the sheath Quote
CFM chuck123wapati Posted 5 hours ago CFM Report Posted 5 hours ago "Figure Carving" by AL Stohlman would give you that info for adding the shading. I see Tandy is sold out on that book; however they have "How to carve Leather" which also shows the process Al used. I like that sheath BTW, very well done imo.
