Moderator bruce johnson Posted Thursday at 02:05 PM Moderator Report Posted Thursday at 02:05 PM We got one at the Sheridan show last May. My wife has used it some. I played with it and thought it has some real possibilities. Members Deanr Posted Thursday at 04:45 PM Members Report Posted Thursday at 04:45 PM I have one and although I haven't used it alot I like it. Much of my work is with chrome tan so I don't get alot of opportunity to use it. Probably not for everyone. For those that have spent considerable time perfecting your tooling you might be underwhelmed. For those that want a tooling effect and haven't perfected the standard craft I think it can fill the need. Different type of results. I like to trace a picture and work from there. Attached are a couple pictures of bags I made using it. Both on veg tan. Quote
Members SUP Posted Thursday at 05:39 PM Author Members Report Posted Thursday at 05:39 PM That's nice. For those who cannot master4 hand tooling or have arthritis, for example and can no longer tool by hand, it should be a boon. 3 hours ago, bruce johnson said: I played with it and thought it has some real possibilities. 46 minutes ago, Deanr said: have one and although I haven't used it alot I like it How do the tattooled pieces compare to hand tooled pieces? I know the effort is less but the results, are they as satisfactory? Quote Learning is a life-long journey.
Contributing Member fredk Posted yesterday at 12:52 AM Contributing Member Report Posted yesterday at 12:52 AM Interesting machine. I see it could have its uses. I might try something with my old Burgess wood carver. Might have found a new use for it Quote Al speling misteaks aer all mi own werk..

Members SUP Posted 15 hours ago Author Members Report Posted 15 hours ago I think that this tool can be used along with hand tooling for best results. Used by itself, looking at the results on the listing in Weaver, the results look rather flat. Reminds me of the tooling on the leathers sold to tourists in some South American countries and elsewhere. Of course, I am only looking at photographs which is why I asked the question that I did, above. Quote Learning is a life-long journey.
CFM chuck123wapati Posted 15 hours ago CFM Report Posted 15 hours ago lol i asked my daughter about this, she is a tattoo artist. She laughed and said, can I make 200 bucks an hour doing it? She wasnt very impressed but did say it would be good practice for the real thing. I think if you're already an artist and have some skill in painting and such, it could be worth trying.
