Members Edsbear Posted February 16 Members Report Posted February 16 (edited) I am having a problem when attaching piping when it turns corners, its basically leaving a crease on the piping on the inside of a 90 deg corner. I wondered if anyone else had this problem and have any tips to stop this happening please Edited February 16 by Edsbear Add on Quote
Members DieselTech Posted February 16 Members Report Posted February 16 Cut little V-notches on the back side of the piping at the corner radius. Quote

Are you using a properly matched piping foot set? If it's thin leather, try rubbing Carnauba Creme on the area that's going to make the sharp turn before it gets to the feet. Or, apply it to the entire length in advance. Carnauba Creme softens and preserves leather and can be polished with a piece of wool fur. The added flexibility may help get rid of the corner wrinkles. If the wrinkles persist, try skiving it down a little thinner. If it's cloth or vinyl, check on upholstery forums, like https://www.theupholsteryforum.com/. Members Edsbear Posted Thursday at 01:04 AM Author Members Report Posted Thursday at 01:04 AM The material is canvas with vinyl piping. Piping is 3mm plus the thickness of the fabric. I use a 5 1/16" piping foot to start and finish with 1/4" (I had the same problem with leather but never used the Carnauba for that job) Quote
