Members ClaimedVacancy Posted Monday at 03:23 AM Members Report Posted Monday at 03:23 AM Hi everyone. Made a thing for all of my needles and awls blades. Happened to have space for the awl hafts also. So far it works great. When needing a different awl haft, awl, or needle, it is all in one place. Though I do all hand stitching work, I’m sure this could be adapted for machine applications. It’s practically a horizontal reduced version that a lot of folks keep their tooling tools in. And, made in American elm! Quote
Members JDFred Posted Monday at 02:46 PM Members Report Posted Monday at 02:46 PM That’s a good idea I like that you labeled the holes so you’re not trying to remember what is what. I might suggest maybe putting a cork plug in the bottom of your awl blade holes so you can keep them point down and not dull them. I get nervous with lots of pointy things sticking up. But a very clean nice looking job. Quote
CFM chuck123wapati Posted Monday at 04:55 PM CFM Report Posted Monday at 04:55 PM I like the idea too lol, but yeah i cant see good enough to keep them pointy end up. I would have to add a Band-Aid box. Members dikman Posted Monday at 09:35 PM Members Report Posted Monday at 09:35 PM My first thought too, all those pointy bits sticking up made me cringe! I can guarantee I would stick myself!! Members ClaimedVacancy Posted Monday at 09:53 PM Author Members Report Posted Monday at 09:53 PM Certainly, regarding getting stuck by the awls. But i can just turn them down and the problem is gone! Im working on resharpening them so i place them down once finished. Quote
Members MarshalWill Posted 3 hours ago Members Report Posted 3 hours ago Nice tool holder. I like that kind of organizing. I see you have marked them with stamps. Maybe you could rub some antiquing across the top so the numbers show better. I keep many of my drills on a shelf behind my drill press in similar blocks. I also have blocks to organize many of my leather tools in my various tool boxes. They're made mostly of different hardwoods, depending on what was on hand when I made each one. Quote
