sodapop Report post Posted February 2, 2009 well since she loved the daffodil purse i made for her, of course she had to order a matching checkbook cover lol its on 4/5 oz, the fade inbetween the flowers was fiebings dark brown diluted, golden oak stained, oiled, resisted the flowers, its subtle but you can see the contrast better in person, sheridan brown antiqued...inside is lined with the same as the purse, cognac pig suede...calf lace for the braid...also i put the little calf lace tab on the front closure strap, cuz i know shes got some nails and hopefully that will save the tooling abit when pulling the tab off the button... heres a little interesting tidbit how some things work out in strange ways...the original purse graphics i choose were the daffodils in the end...which the customer didn't have any idea of what was going to be on it, just some flowers...so after she got the purse she asked me...why did you choose daffodils??...i just said well they caught my eye & they were purdy...plus i thought daffodils were a bit different from the norm etc...then she proceeded to tell me that her birthday was in march and daffodils are the march flower...which i of course had no idea the month she was born...but an extra bonus on that one how it all worked out, kinda cool... anyhoo heres the checkbook cover... darryl

skip Report post Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) Nice work your flowers look great. I would however laid them down a little more so that the higest flower would not have been on the bend of the checkbook. then if you wanted to you could have put another set on the back. just a thought I still think it looks great! I would however laid them down a little more so that the higest flower would not have been on the bend of the checkbook. then if you wanted to you could have put another set on the back. just a thought I still think it looks great! thanks much skip!!...i hear ya on that and was one of my original headaches when i did the purse...cuz i honestly didn't have anything to put on the back...so my thought process at the time was to have the flowers flow over the top in a sense...so i matched the same look on the checkbook...the graphics on the checkbook are 3.5 H X 5.5 L...not sure at my current skill level if i could of managed tooling it properly if i were to reduce much more...but i totally agree with ya skip and thanks for the input bud!! You did an outstanding job on your chequebook cover. Like how you photographed it with the leaves around it. Really shows it up great. Well done. Kiwi glad ya liked it kiwi, always appreciated!!...and thanks again on the photography, i try and work with what i have laying around...and there was some poppouri in a bowl and i needed the shell to prop it up lol...i'm green with it all, so its a learning process like anything to photograph things so it all compliments your work...i just got to learn to check my photos on the comp. for critiques before i package the item and send it off hehe darryl
