Ask questionas about them as a couple: What are their interests, where do they come from, where have they been Dreams and wishes etc. etc. Then put someting together that makes sense *LOL* and incorporate the scroll wedding things, the fertility symbols or other symbols that makes sense on a wedding...Just a few hints and Good Luck to you:-) Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
carr52 Report post Posted April 10, 2009 I got some great ideas form different thread in here. One idea I like is having it zippered close. Another one is to have a couple small pockets or slots on the inside to put a few things. Also thought about using a snap and a strap to close it. But the first thing is to find a chemical free photo album to start with to protect the photos. I have less than a month to do this in so I need to get cracking on it. Deb59 Report post Posted April 11, 2009 Here is a copy with a brief Step by step that I sent on a pm to another leatherworker. I don't know if it will help or not, but here goes. I make mine using kind of 2 layers for the front and back. I use a heaver leather like a saddle skirting for the main body. I cut a v gouge about 1 1/4 from one end. I punch my holes where the posts will go. I wet the leather and fold it over towards the rough side of the leather and clamp it or weigh it down to get a good crease. I use a 5/6 oz leather for the front and back. These pieces are the same width as the skirting, but not quite as long. (They are about 1" shorter than the fold.) I tool my design on the front piece and stain the back piece. I sew the two layers together on 3 sides leaving the side open at the end that is folded. I take a light weight 3/4 leather that is about 12 inches wide and long enough to just fit between the stitching lines on the front and back. I put my posts in under the fold and the pages go on top of the 1" that is folded over. I screw the posts together then slide the light weight leather in to the "pocket" on each side to cover the hinged area. This allows more pages to be added and still cover the end. Another person to get ahold of is Chan Geer, He is teaching a class on making a photo album, I think it is listed somewhere on this website. I have attached a picture of a finished one. I don't think I have any of the process, but I am currently working on one and will be sure to take pictures of the step by step this time. Suze Report post Posted April 11, 2009 Tom- any good scrapbook store will have the albums Jo-anns hobby lobby they really are not that hard to find I saw an album once that had two champane glasses "klinking" on it with "bubbles" floating out of them.... what about that and putting their names on the glasses. or a bride and groom.. wildrose Report post Posted April 11, 2009 Years ago, I did this white, 3 ring binder style, that the couple wanted to use for a "guest book". It had a silver (kangaroo!) lining, with white interior pockets, and lettering inside trimmed in silver paint. What a job! Paid well though, as I recall. It has a window in the front cover that I don't like but I think I can deal with that. The invitation envelope had a seal on the flap. It is some kind of cross. Going to try and incorporate that in some how. Tom My cross doesn't look a thing like the one on the envelope, but so far I like it.
