I have been trying to find someone to do a specific job for me and thought I'd check out the personal profiles to see who might be the best person to try. Now, I'm sure I'm not the only person to do this kind of search. The problem I hit was that very few people have completed their personal profile and although I searched for over an hour I couldn't find anyone to take on the contract - simply because I couldn't find out anything about people's work capability.

I've got more work coming up in the future that I would like to outsource and as some of it is for a US client I'd like to track down more US leatherworkers with the specialist skills and facilities I need. Right now I'd be hard pushed to find someone but I hope this will change as more people take a few minutes to make more information available.

Frankly, on a personal level I don't care if you do or you don't put stuff on your profile, but on a business level I'd like a lot more information about you 'cos it helps me to choose when I'm picking guys to work with.

The part that I want to see is a city, even a state where people are located. Maybe I want to buy something or personally look at an item. I am far more inclined to do so if I can see that you are close and not 1500 miles away.

I am bad enough at typing in the first place. Toss in not wearing glasses to see and the meaning of things do sem to change a lot!

I agree with all of you, I would like to see the profiles filled out also. In addition, I have taken it a step farther and utilized my "about me" space to show examples of my work. I had bugged Jo about this because I thought it would be neat to have a sort of mini web site...I'm not sure if she added it or if it was always there and I finally just discovered it. Anyway, I took advantage of it and posted my photos there. With Kates help, I was able to enable each photo to be enlarged where it was more viewable. For those who have websites already this may be redundant....but for the rest of us it's a great opportunity to showcase what we have done. In my opinion, showing examples of what you do, legitimizes the positions we take and the opinions we express. I have had a number of requests for quotes on products as a direct result of viewers seeing my "about me" page. It is beside the point the most of them suffered some sort of cardiac event when I responded with prices!....if I hadn't posted pictures....they wouldn't have even inquired!

I don't think anyone is 'having a pop' here TK and the issue isn't time critical - Johanna was simply saying that this is an ongoing struggle that shouldn't really be happening. Common sense says people who fill in their profile get more work than those who don't... easy!

AND ON THE OTHER HAND WOULD IT NOT BE A COMMON COURTSY

FOR EVERYONE TO FILL THE QUESTIONS OUT?
