cgleather Report post Posted October 28, 2009 Hello Leather Land, Just finished these Sorry about the bad pictures. I was told this was a old Porter pattren. I still have along way to go and will do alot different on the next set. I carved a set prior to this that ended up in the scrap bin. Someday I will be good at this however alot of cattle are going to die getting their. There are many things that were a first for me on these and I learned alot. Until next time Take Care All. Storm Report post Posted October 28, 2009 Top Notch!!! Would not change a thing about them. The vintage carving combined with the basket weave is great. Storm

Hilly Report post Posted October 29, 2009 Really nice cuffs. Love the tooling and the color. Exactly what is the purpose of the cuffs (excuse my ignorance)?
TTcustom Report post Posted October 29, 2009 Those are really nice Billy. Great work. That pattern does just scream "Porter" at me. Brilliant execution! Hilly, I think that cowboy cuffs came about as a way to protect the forearms when roping. but they grew into quite a cowboy culture fashion accessory. This book has historic pictures that show working cowboys on the Montana range wearing them. It is one of my favourite books for old photos of cowboy gear.
