Shorts Report post Posted April 7, 2008 (edited) That's a nice setup. I must echo the reply of 'it's too neat!'. Mine starts that way, then gets cluttered through the project. Things get tidied here and there, but....ehh.. I'm trying! Anyhow, I need more shelf space. That would be great. The wall board there you haev is definitely needed in my place - I just can't make holes inside the rental. Oh yeah, dark brown carpet is excellent. Shorts Report post Posted April 7, 2008 What's the sewing machine there on the right? Are you setup in the workout room? I see a bench and the leg extension heh If so, that's my setup too. I'm sharing the room with the stationary bike and dumbbells.
Regis Report post Posted April 7, 2008 Wow! I can only echo the other comments about simple, neat, and functional. Great setup......I don't dare show my wife these pictures [lol].
tonyc1 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 No kidding. Wow real carpet. Do you dye in there? You wouldn't be allowed to "die" in there as it would clutter up the place!
mliebs8 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 Believe it or not I do dye in that room, so far I've only spilled 1 drop of edge coat on the carpet. I'm a clean freak so everday night when I'm finished I straighten everthing up so it pretty much looks like that most of the time. I have my bigger tools in the garage so it's kind of a 2 room operation. The sewing machine is the Artisan 3000. I'd like to see some pics of other shops to get some ideas. Thanks for the compliments everyone.
bcurrier Report post Posted April 7, 2008 Nice, clean setup! I like your use of MDF for the bench. It must be nice and solid and you've cut it very precisely - well made! What did you use for the top? It looks like a double layer of plywood, but what's on the top? It almost looks like phenolic ply in the first picture. stelmackr Report post Posted April 7, 2008 I see the dies, but where is the clicker? Bob Stelmack
Shorts Report post Posted April 8, 2008 Alright, so the Dremel is hanging off the wall. I know we all have Dremels and use them for all their worth and then some. So all this Dremel on leather makes for a lot of dust. What do yall have for means of vacuum and ventilation? That leather dust gets everywhere! I wear a mask when using it so I can say I didn't inhale and I've taken to running a vacuum right off the edge of my Dremel setup to capture the airborne dust. What about yall?
mliebs8 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 I really don't have to use the dremel very much at all, it's basically just to touch up a few things here and there. Since I starting useing the dies to cut my patterns everything fits pretty close. I use a hydraulic press for the clicker dies so it's in the garage. When I make a new pattern and have to use the dremel I wear a hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and a dust mask, I usually sit on the floor and lean over the work and the dust covers the front of the sweatshirt and the carpet so it stay pretty clean. I have a belt sander in the garage that I use to finish the back edge after it's moulded and stitched, now that thing makes a mess even with a shop vac hooked up to it. I also keep my drill press in the garage because I use it to burnish the edges and the yankee wax gets little tiny pieces everywhere around the press so I'm sure that would be a nightmare in the house.
