Contributing Member Jordan Posted April 11, 2008 Contributing Member Report Posted April 11, 2008 I just started this project today, I used an old pair of flipflops that fit me pretty good for a pattern and I plan on a stationary looped heel strap and a one piece ajustable strap and buckle to hold um on my feet. I may have some trouble in the toe area as I think the slots are alittle too close together. Quote
Timbo Posted April 11, 2008 Report Posted April 11, 2008 I think the toe loop will be okay. It will conform over time and ultimately give more control ove the end of the sandal. Be sure and post up the finished product. Tim Quote
Contributing Member Jordan Posted April 12, 2008 Author Contributing Member Report Posted April 12, 2008 (edited) 2 steps forward 1 step back, 37" of 3/4 strap is to short by about 5", back to tandy for a couple of longer ones. So far they are coming together nicely and is turning into a real learning/problem solving project. I also find that my strap channels need to be deeper so the foot pad is not so bumpy, I have very tender tootsies I guess LOL Edited April 12, 2008 by Jordan Quote
Ambassador Luke Hatley Posted April 12, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted April 12, 2008 Jordan you have it going your way... what type of soles will you put on them.. Goodyear - Michilin or Firestone ................ seriously they look great. at your local shoe shop you could buy Creep Soles that you could glue with Barge or Masters Cement . that would make some fine sandals.. Contributing Member Jordan Posted April 12, 2008 Author Contributing Member Report Posted April 12, 2008 Thanks, I haven't decided on the bottoms yet crepe sounds good. I thought about all kinds of things like hobnails, rivets, tooled ridges, rubber poundo board or just leave them plain leather and wear them out while planning my next new and improved pair. I think I'll call them Heyzueschristos. Quote
Grunt Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Nicely done!! I may have to try making a pair for myself to wear around the house. Quote
TomSwede Posted April 12, 2008 Report Posted April 12, 2008 Wow I'm imressed with those. That is such a clean design. Those should be able to find their way into customers hands.
