Water Based Stitching Wax?

I am curious if anybody uses a water based stitching wax for securing linen thread in a needle and awl machine? I used to have a solution known as Super Cyroxilin, but that was years ago. When it thickened too much in the wax pot I just added some warm water to get it liquefied again. Cleanup was a snap also, with hot water left in until the wax became runny and could be poured out of the pot.

Does anyone know where I can get this type of stitching wax and what it might cost? I suppose I could try rubber cement - LOL

Campbell-Bosworth sells a liquid wax that I believe is water based. I use it in my Landis 3 and if I leave it sitting too long, I just need to add some water to turn it liquid again. Not sure about price as I'm still using the gallon I got about three years ago... you can check their website for price, etc...

Aw, shucks, no luck. All Campbell has is Lax Wax and Charlie says it isn't water based. Darcy, can you get the brand name from your gallon can and let me know what it is?

Sorry Wiz, you were misinformed. The Thread lubricant (AKA Lax Wax) IS water-based emulsified paraffin. We have made it for decades as an alternative to hard wax.

Not in my experience, I use it in my Campbell. I have used both Linen (Barbour's) and Polyester (Eddington) with it.

I use Frankel Stitching wax made by Feibings. It does not clog up the machine. When it starts to solidify I add just a little bit of ammonia and stir it around. I really like it.

I use lax wax in my union lockstitch and have never had stain. Lol xtra parts for a union lock thats agood one.
