builderofstuff Report post Posted April 21, 2011 That is absolutely gorgeous, you should definitely be proud of that! I've always thought it would be a really cool project to build a scale saddle since I have no desire or need to build a full scale one, but I'm curious if you make your own trees or do you buy them? That's something that seems to be a dying art , or at least one that is so closely guarded that no one knows how to do it other than those already doing it. builderofstuff Report post Posted April 22, 2011 I would really love to build a scaled saddle, but I'd really like to be able to make my own tree for it. I'm afraid though if I asked anyone in the business for enough basic information to make a simple scaled likeness of a full scale tree they either wouldn't respond or they would be offended. King's X Report post Posted April 22, 2011 This is a great inspiration for me. I have had a 1/2 scale tree sitting on my file cabinet for 6 months. Since I have never built a saddle or seen one done it is hard for me to see me working on mine. I am reading the Stohlman saddle books again in hopes that it helps. Thanks for sharing. equiss Report post Posted April 22, 2011 Wow - that is so much fun, that is on my project "to do" list....one day. I actually thought it might be easier to build a 1/2 scale before a full size, but patterns are always an issue for me. I am not good at taking the stohlman, Dusty, etc. and blowing them up and then changing them.....that is so cute!
Bob Blea Report post Posted April 24, 2011 Thanks for showing this. I too have wanted to build a saddle but I don't have a horse, so I don't need a saddle. Someday I will probably build one of these and I hope I can do as well as yours. Bob
LNLeather Report post Posted April 24, 2011 Very Nice 1/2 scale saddle... I checked out your gallery and clearly you can do it all - anything you put your mind to..... won't be any grass growin' under your feet... Very Nice work!
