Kevin King Posted August 24, 2011 Report Posted August 24, 2011 I've been making items for a show I am exhibiting at in Las Vegas over labor day weekend. This is one of the custom pieces I am taking with me. Cape buffalo, two lizards, one sea snake, one baby python, and one ostrich (leg). 10 card pockets, 3 cash pockets, 1 zipper pocket, hand-carved KKL silver smoothie snaps and silver KKL grommet, and a mokume zipper-pull by Jeremy Marsh. Members Radthalan Posted August 25, 2011 Members Report Posted August 25, 2011 Truly amazing. I like the different textures of leather that create the different patterns on the wallet. Quote
Phatdaddy Posted August 25, 2011 Report Posted August 25, 2011 Wow pretty much sums it up. That is beautiful. Quote
Members particle Posted August 25, 2011 Members Report Posted August 25, 2011 Very nice work Kevin. Laid out flat, it looks beautiful. It's a very sweet execution of the scene. Folded up - it's equally beautiful. The thread colors, hide colors, shapes - they all play very nicely together in a meandering trail that entices you to want to keep turning it over to see what lay ahead. Quote
Ambassador abn Posted August 25, 2011 Ambassador Report Posted August 25, 2011 Kevin, the design is superb and the craftsmanship (of course) is unequalled. Outstanding choice of materials and colors. Keep up the good work! -Alex Quote

Members opossum Posted September 12, 2011 Members Report Posted September 12, 2011 Howdy, Brand new here, but this is an inspiring piece & while most have commented on the outside I like the inside, because you continue the theme without drawing away from the main focus. This is also my first introduction to this type of work with leather & has opened my eyes to more possibilities. Thank you for sharing, David Quote
Members tatehunt Posted September 13, 2011 Members Report Posted September 13, 2011 Stunning. Love the layering composition and creative use of texture and stitching. Can you even sell such a piece, or are you just tempted to keep it as a show off item? Quote
Kevin King Posted September 14, 2011 Author Report Posted September 14, 2011 Thanks for the pictorial too! It's interesting to see how it all comes together. Well, they're crummy cell phone pics. But I think it makes the finished pics look a lot better. If I tried that, I'd have a finger or two sewn in there too...... What kind of machine? Dave I use a Juki DNU1541. I'd be lost without it. Thanks for the step by step - Its cool to see that wallet come to life, you rock and again thanks for being willing to share how you perform different constructions of your wallets. I made this one to sell at the show I just attended in Vegas. It is the most expensive wallet i've ever made. It was the first thing that sold. Thank you all for all the great words! KK Quote
