I see there have been some topics on these before, however, I was curious if the ones that Springfield sells are the exact same as the ones on the Hidecrafter website. Further, the pics that each of them have on their websites don't really suggest the impression is as good as the impressions I see in some of your work.

I'd really like to get a set of these, looking for any info.

Thank you,

Kevin

Tandy just came out with a set of pebble background tools too. They are a little different than the ones that I got from Hidecrafter. The main difference being the medium sized one Tandy sells doesn't have a flat side on it. The ones I tried make a pretty nice impression.

I picked up a set of the Tandy pebble backgrounders yesterday. Tried them on some scrap to make sure the three of them left a matching impression, but that's it so far. They seem comparable to all the others I've seen. With a wholesale account they're under $5.

Got a link to the Tandy pebble backgrounder? I've not seen it and can't find it on their site.

They don't have a link for them yet, but you should be able to email or call them. If your nearest store doesn't have them, contact the Cheyenne store (307-632-1761 or cheyenne@tandyleather.com) and ask them. You might also ask ClayB (here in this thread), as I believe he said something in another thread about his store having them too.

The pebble backgrounders are a brand new item this fall and will probably be in the new catalog when it comes out. I don't see anything on the website either. There have been new things showing up in the stores every week that should be in the new catalog when it comes out. There are also a lot of items being discontinued.

Thanks. Looks like I'll have to take a trip to my local Tandy and ask about their new items. I've asked them a few times if they had carried a pebble backgrounder but they've never had one.

If you need me to, I'll see if I can't get off work in time to get across town to the local one here and get the numbers off the tools. (I just need people not to send me work or call me 10 minutes before I'm supposed to leave!) ;)

Just a suggestion, but if you buy a set from either place, buy 2-3 extra of each size. I use them quite a bit in my bibs (easier to paint acrylics over pebbles than crosshatch) so what I did was keep 1 original set of the three and then grind & polish the rest to other various profiles like triangles, squares, tighter turns, etc.

The ones I have are craftool M881, M882, M884. From small to large. Hope that helps.

The girl at the Tandy where I bought them called them stingray stamps or something like that, so I don't think they know them as pebbler or such.

Thank you all for the suggestions i checked the ones out at Tandy, they are quite different from the ones I have seen like the Hidecrafter ones. I didn't pick them up yet, there's a big store sale on Friday, I may then.
