Wishful Report post Posted December 1, 2011 Excellent! What did you use for stiffeners on the sides?
Rhide Report post Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Fantastic work! I would sure like to see some detail pics of the large round trunk on the bench. What a beautifully classic trunk. I could easily imagine that on the back of an Essex or Packard. Edited December 1, 2011 by Rhide

Tinneal Report post Posted December 1, 2011 Beautiful! How did you make the frames?
cgillock Report post Posted December 1, 2011 Excellent! What did you use for stiffeners on the sides? I work with harness leathers up to 16-18 oz some on the smaller ones & that is plenty stiff. Some of the larger trunks are made with Palonia & Poplar frames which is as close as I can get to what the old original trunks were made of. The old trunks coming from England was made from Deal. Fantastic work! I would sure like to see some detail pics of the large round trunk on the bench. What a beautifully classic trunk. I could easily imagine that on the back of an Essex or Packard. I thing there are some detail pics on my facebook page. Try Two Fools Leather Goods on facebook.

Nick69 Report post Posted December 3, 2011 Very nice trunks. Lovely detail. Euro Redwood is the closest to what was originally Deal, its also closely relater to Scotts Pine. I have some in my store if you want a picture? I'm actually a cabinet maker by trade but also dabble with leather.
