Members johnggrg Posted December 4, 2011 Members Report Posted December 4, 2011 I recently aquired a bag full of old Tandy ID case kits. I was reading the instructions on putting them together and was stumped. It said to sew together then slide the window into pocket? What holds that plastic in place?? It said nothing about gluing it or anything. So how do you keep it in place inside the pocket window? John Quote

electrathon Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 I didn't post because I was not positive... I think it just friction fits. It simply fills the area. Aaron Quote
Members WinterBear Posted December 4, 2011 Members Report Posted December 4, 2011 I'm pretty sure he's right, just a friction fit. I've not made that particular kit, but a similar kit made by someone else and the window was just sort of slid in. I didn't like that, so I scuffed the edges of the acetate so the glue would bind to it, and cemented it into place (after the tooling and dying and before the stitching). I think it worked, or at least the person I gave it to hasn't said anything about it coming loose. Quote
King's X Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 Yes, friction holds it in place. I use some other stuff and glue it to my leather. Quote
Northmount Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 Easier to replace when it gets all scuffed up or yellow if you just slide it in. Glued in is a job to get out without damaging the leather. Quote
