Hibbert Report post Posted December 26, 2011 Hello everyone, I just made a walet using a Tandy kit. I would have liked to do my own but I didn't have thin enough leather and he wanted a plastic ID slot, we're military so we have to show it all the time AND I'm moving states in a few days so there wasn't a lot of time. anyway what this is is a wallet themed after a video game called "SKYRIM". I don't play games but he gave me what appeared to be a video game manual and the center emblem on the wallet is the games trademark I believe. His request was to have the emblem on there, have a wood like finish to the leather, and "make it look good". After flipping through the book a bit I noticed a lot of Celtic knots so I went in that direction with the rest of the product. The lacing is black kangaroo and the finish is Mahogany Antique with Clear-Lac. I do have a question from anyone who has experience with the Tandy wallet kits, how do their insides hold up? HellfireJack Report post Posted December 26, 2011 I like the wallet. I've been playing Skyrim for a week now myself. I think the Celtic works but it's actually more of a Norse theme in the game. Luckily most of what people call "Celtic" artwork, especially the zoomorphic images, were actually inspired by Germanic animal styles anyways. A win all round. I'm sure your friend will like it. LNLeather Report post Posted December 26, 2011 Wow, nice work for your first wallet!
Hibbert Report post Posted December 26, 2011 Thanks guys! I showed the pictures to my brother who I just found out today also plays the game. He told me that it doesn't have to much of a Celtic background to it but that the wallet still works so I'm happy with it. One thing that's really been bugging me is where the lacing ends. My ideas of well done lacing is where you can't tell where it starts or finishes but on this you certainly can. It was my first lacing job though so maybe with practice... CowboyDon Report post Posted December 28, 2011 In regards to your question concerning the Tandy Wallet inards - they hold up well - I carried one daily for over 20 years and only traded it out so I could make a new one for me. Also I have no ideal about this game - but I do like the designs you have on the wallet - it looks cool to me.

I'm glad they're a quality product

Horseshoe Report post Posted December 29, 2011 I used a Tandy wallet kit once, and I don't really care for them. The insides didn't line up real well, and you're stuck with the kit's interior such as color, texture, and so on. So I choose to make my interior pieces myself.
