Members veedub3 Posted September 22, 2013 Members Report Posted September 22, 2013 Does anyone have a guess at the price range for horween chromexcel? and or essex? Springfield Leather now sale a few Horween products and you can buy it by the sq.ft. They also have pieces that are 1' x 2' for $28 which is what I got he last time I ordered. No ragged edges that you can't use, just a nice square piece. Very nice stuff. Karina Quote "The only man who makes no mistake, is the man who does nothing." Theodore Roosevelt
Members WScott Posted September 23, 2013 Members Report Posted September 23, 2013 I would say Springfield is the way to go, those guys are great Quote
Members Scouter Bob Posted May 23, 2014 Members Report Posted May 23, 2014 Does anyone have a guess at the price range for horween chromexcel? and or essex? it is 13$ and change for 5.5 oz chomexcel, 17 feet + per side. But it is sooo sweet to work with. I was in Chicago this week and stopped in to purchase some leather from the "holy land" of leather. this company has a great deal of pride in what they do and very welcoming and down to hearth. I suggest you find some excuse to visit Chicago and make an apointement with Curtis at Horween. you will see what your chices are and get to sign the wall and met some great people. Quote
Members DavidL Posted May 23, 2014 Members Report Posted May 23, 2014 if you order 5 hides the price goes down 4 dollars a square foot, other wise springfield leather company is the way to go. Members johnv474 Posted June 4, 2014 Members Report Posted June 4, 2014 This is an old thread but keeps getting attention. Occasionally we get Horween in our bulk scrap/remnant lots. It is not consistent, and supplies tend to go fast, but for those looking to try out Horween but can't do $10/sf, this may be an option worth pursuing. I know Maverick also sells, and at similar prices, for Horween scrap. I'll be posting some in the For Sale section in the next few weeks. Quote
Members kdaimler Posted November 25, 2014 Members Report Posted November 25, 2014 (edited) Howdy! I just came across this thread. I tried calling the various numbers listed for Eric at Tannery Row and even tried sending an email (eric.tanneryrow@gmail.com), but making initial contact has been unsuccessful. I'm attempting to order a small amount of Cordovan Shell. I emailed Springfield Leather (great customer service), but they don't have any in stock and they're not sure when they'll get more. Does anyone have any insight as to where I can purchase Cordovan Shell? Does anyone have information on who to contact? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Klaus D. Members MG513 Posted September 28, 2015 Members Report Posted September 28, 2015 Has anything changed here?? Contacting ppl from Horween is still painfully difficult... For me at least. This thread dates back several years, thats plenty of time to hire folks or switch up the inquiry system. Kind of disappointed that this is still the case (at this point). Thanks Quote

This stuff is expensive so I havent ordered anything yet, cant comment on wait time for actual material, but at least theres someone on the other end of the line now so to speak...
