That's really nice, and a clever front. Love the bookcase with the stacked books.

I have an older model Kindle my sister gave me when she upgraded, and I hate the case. The first cases they made are not very good at holding the Kindle securely. You've inspired me to make my own case!

Over my shoulder, my wife was looking at this . . . thanks for making my life miserable! (Nah, just kiddin') This is really quite the piece. With all the fine detail coloring and painting, all tolled, how many hours are in this?

Harvey- the tooling and painting part was a little over 20 hours, construction somewhere between 4 and 6 and the lacing was done in front of the TV... so total maybe 35 hours?? I don't really tally hours when it is for me or immediate family. That Labor of Love stuff!!

This is gorgeous, as a total newbie to this wonderful craft this is totally inspiring! Can I ask a couple of newbie silly questions?

What type and weight of leather did you use for the different areas? the lacing is awesome and I think I get the width but what 'thickness' did you use?

Kat~ The tooling leather is 4/5 oz, the cover leather is chrome tanned upholstry weight about 3oz, the interior was lined with garment weight pig skin approx. 1 to 2 oz.

There are stiffeners between the cover and lining made of black illustration board and the lacing style is called mexican basket weave done in 1/8 inch calf lace... if you are a member of FaceBook, I have a page with picture albums that shows a picture progression of it. www.facebook.com/janlynent Have fun with your project...
