electrathon Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 "Pipe Smokers Belt Need a smaller width belt " Why do you have to wear a narrower belt if you smoke a pipe? Aaron Quote
Members Stewart Posted February 17, 2012 Author Members Report Posted February 17, 2012 (edited) It does not matter what type of belt you wear when smoking but pants have different width belt loops. Since I retired, I have lost weight and the last belt I made was wider and a heavy buckle. Buckle is a Champion Spark Plug logo (brass) given to me by Champion for outstanding sales. The belt was themed with the parts I have sold tooled in. I started carving pipes a year ago and the other belt was to heavy and I like to tool leather. I put the two together for a theme. I am dyslexic,so all the artful tooling is a no go.If is functional it's ok with me. By the way my wife will not let me do a purse for her. Would hate to see what the theme was . Sorry about large pictures.iit is not a statement of any type the lighter colored pipes ar some of the ones i carved. The pipe that has bowl on top is anther one. I'm still working on my basket weave and it's not nearly as clean as yours. But thank you, Cheryl Quote

Members DoubleC Posted February 19, 2012 Members Report Posted February 19, 2012 You have came a long way...Keep on comming. Thanks Joe, I've really worked hard at it. I think because it doesn't seem like work. I want to quit 'working' all the time on the stuff I'm going to be selling locally, I mean just those three items, and work on other things and designs. But I always seem to get right back to those I think because we chose them to start with because I could do them quick and well. Not quick enough on this rythym bead set I've been working on all day though. But I keep plugging away :-) and I'll work in other things too so I CAN improve. Cheryl Quote

Basket weave takes a lot of measurements. Joe. Well I've sold an In the Eye of a Horse, and three rythym beads, no two, I'm giving on set I made fast and inexpensively to a girl I know can't afford one, for the testimonial on my site. I started another one last night or yesterday I guess and it's going to be pretty I think, and I think the woman will want this one along with the one she's getting her own beads for. This one doesn't have any beads on it, but different typed of silver colored brads because the whole point is is the bells on it, not the beads. I'm putting a lining on the back although I checked every brad to make sure I had hammered the points down to make sure nothing ever sticks the horse. Oh AND I made a mystery braid to finish it off with when I get to that point. Now that was fun.....Actually I like all of it, designing them and so on, but my hands were so sore I just couldn't keep sewing. so I switched to a checkbook cover/card holder I'm making for me. Only because I'd already tooled the leather and it didn't work where I planned it, so I can't stand to throw anything away. So I'm gonna get that done today if it kills me and it's looking like it might but that's been fun too. Hope to have it on today. What YOU putting on today for me to see? Cheryl Quote
