Ambassador freak Posted July 6, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted July 6, 2008 Life's been fast and i'm just tring to keep up. I forced time to make this one. I made it for myself but i'm pretty sure my wife will snag it pretty quick. I get the felling i'll be making more like it. yeah it's another freakin notebook. It's hard to get with the camera. The lining is snake print leather. The notebook holds a 5X8 pad and has two pockets plus a pocket for business cards It's all so hard to get a good pic of the lift. Every since Bert (ClayB) did the tutorial on how to do a oak leaf, i just love doing them. I'm not that fast at 'em but i'm not sure anyone is. I just love the way they look when they're done. I've gotten to know the people at my local TLF pretty well. When i showed this to them yesterday, the lady told me she was impressed with how far i've come in 2 years ( next month i'll have to renew my membership ) with no classes or teaching. Leatherworker.net has become my classes and all of you that post are my teachers. If i see something all i have to do is ask and one of you will answer. Thanks you all so very, very much !!! freak out... Quote It takes more then one freak to have a true freakshow. So take a seat , the show is about to start. Check out the freakSHOW
Contributing Member ClayB Posted July 6, 2008 Contributing Member Report Posted July 6, 2008 Hey Freak, The lady at the Tandy store isn't the only on that is REALLY impressed with your work!! That is really cool, just like all your stuff is. I love how you made the leaves in the background look like they are in the background. That is such a cool technique you have been doing. The different levels of depth really make things stand out. GREAT JOB!!! One thing you need to get straight though. Bert is Clay M (the tall one) I'm Ernie. It's ok though, I get confused on that sometimes too. Quote ClayB Badlands Leather Art blog Badlands Leather Art Website
TomSwede Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 You've outdone yourself this time!! Freaking awsome! Everything bout it looks really professional and those leaves on the last pic, could have sworn it was two layers if I didn't know. Did you use the hairblade on the leafs? It looks great. Nice basketweaving too. This place sure is great for picking up skill, I must force some time myself now. Now go get yourself a cold one, you've deserved it! Ambassador freak Posted July 6, 2008 Author Ambassador Report Posted July 6, 2008 Man that's very nice Freak. I have a question for you I would like to make a notebook. Is there any pattern to make the cover and the inside pocket's? Are did you take the pattern off of an old notebook. I cut a piece 13 & 1/2" long by 9 & 1/2" wide. Then cut the corners round. I use a nickel or a penny to mark the corners. Once i round the corner i trace that on to a thinner weight leather , like a 2 - 3 oz. then cut about a 1/2" out of the middle of that. On the piece where the pad goes i come down 1" and cut a line 5 & 1/4 " long. I like to punch a hole at each end of that line. This will also allow you to slide the clip on the pen in that same slot, making it a pen holder. The other side i cut in half at a slight angle, making one of the pieces longer then the other. THat will give you the two pockets for the other side. Hope that made sense. If you still can't get it i'll try to draw out a pattern for ya.
