Tree Reaper Report post Posted March 20, 2012 I want to stitch a pouch but the foot that is on the machine will be too wide and the stitches will be too far from the edge of the project so is this where I switch to the single foot in order to get closer? Wizcrafts Report post Posted March 20, 2012 (edited) I always use the best presser foot for the job. Sometimes that means using only a left or right toe foot. If none of the feet can do the job, find a local machine shop and have some feet custom milled. In your case, if the right toe doesn't grab the leather on the right enough to securely feed the work, a custom made wrap-around right toe foot will do the trick. I would need to cover the front and back inline with the inside foot, like a reverse capital letter C in a digital readout font. McJeep Report post Posted March 20, 2012 I switch the presser feet on mine so often that I have a stubby screwdriver sitting on the table just for that particular task now. Not sure if I've ever sewn anything with the regular foot - always right or left depending on which one let's me get closer to the work.
Tree Reaper Report post Posted March 20, 2012 I have a left and right harness foot so I'm hoping one of those will work. If I have clearance on the top of the case I think it might work.
McJeep Report post Posted March 20, 2012 another thing I've found helpful since picking up my machine is leaving a healthy 1/2" allowance on things so that there's room for the presser foot to be on the outside edge of the piece, allowing me to get right tight to where I want to be with the needle. Then I trim/sand to size and burnish everything once the stitching's done. Time consuming but it looks better in the end IMHO Cheers R

Do you have an example of what it might look like? I don't know of any existing right outer presser feet that wraps around the front and back of the inner feet. I can modify existing feet with my dremel but I have no means to manufacture a new foot. I would love one for my Toro 3000. Andrew
Tree Reaper Report post Posted March 20, 2012 Andrew, I think Wiz means have a new foot fabricated by a machinist from scratch opposed to reworking an existing foot. Kevin
Wizcrafts Report post Posted March 21, 2012 I got this right wrapped toe foot from Bob Kovar. He may have another one laying around. It isn't a full wrap around like I described, but the front has the flap facing inside, in front of the inner foot.
