What Is This?

Recommended Posts

I found these tools at an estate sale today. Not a ton of tools, but most of them are vintage and in ok shape, so I couldn't pass them up for 20 bucks.

The thing is, and this is probably a noob question (but I'm a noob so it's ok), but can anyone tell me what the Bard Parker tool is please? Something for stitching I'm guessing, but I'm just starting to dabble in stitching now so I'm not familiar with this tool. Sorry if it's obvious, but I been looking for a picture of it and I can't find one. Is it even a leather working tool? Thanks.

Mike are you running with scissors again? :-)

Nice lot for 20 bucks, a little cleaning and you'll be in business, be it MD or LW. Cheryl

Thanks guys. Now that I have the scalpel Cheryl, I can put away my scissors and run around with this. I just need a blade for it :)

You have a #3 Scalpel Handle. There are different sizes, 3, 4, and others. The #11 blade is the one used for delicate leatherwork, mostly because it has a narrow point and all art supply (and leathercraft) stores carry them. Great for close places and filigree work. The #3 handle fits the small blades like the #10 and #11.

Excellent! Glad I asked. I think this is going to come in pretty handy.
