SandSquid Report post Posted July 5, 2012 On the 1/2 mile walk between my cabin/archery range and the "main camp" I spotted 9, yes _NINE_ deer in five minutes. first this little 4 pointed and doe: Then these three tasty morsels just sttod there and gawked at me: A one armed, blind, deaf, mute could make this < 20 foot shot! DoubleC Report post Posted July 5, 2012 Well yeah, could throw a rock at that little baby and probably do it in. I belong to 3 animal rights groups (has nothing to do with deer, LOL) and work in leather with things I never thought I'd find myself touching dead, much less enjoying it. It's odd, I seem to have less trouble with plain ole cow, and marine/reptilian leathers. Other mammals seem to bother me, and on a curve. I've used elk but won't use horse or elephant. Nothing like picking and choosing your 'causes' huh? I remind myself of vegans I've known that decided such or so wasn't meat :-) Or a woman that asked me how I could have intentionally defaced my own body with a tattoo (have a small Irish wedding band tattooed on a finger) as she twiddled her pierced earrings, LOL. What a mixed bag we are....love the 'shots' you did get. Cheryl

They clearly were not worried too much about you...
Ferg Report post Posted August 3, 2012 Until an idiot neighbor decided his relation could hunt "MY" deer a couple years ago, we had 26 at one time within 25 yards of our log home. I named a few and could talk them into posing for photos. Also eight antlered bucks at one time, stunningly beautiful. We now see one small doe at the salt block. Sick! ferg That seems funny, in cruel sort of way. They clearly were not worried too much about you...
Sylvia Report post Posted August 3, 2012 Squid.... they know when hunting season is.... trust me when deer season comes around.... You'll be lucky to see one scraggly old goat of a deer (tough as heck that no one wants to eat.)
