J Allen Report post Posted September 1, 2012 Everyday we see more and more "leather goods" retailers adding pics and promos to this forum. Many if not all are eitjer based out of the US selling knock off designs or US sellers selling imported stuff. Might sound like an isolationist bit sure would like to see a cleansing of the forum of such post and retailers.
Ferg Report post Posted September 1, 2012 Don't get too upset about this. The first Remedy? Don't look at or read it. The Admins take care of most of this stuff anyway. ferg Everyday we see more and more "leather goods" retailers adding pics and promos to this forum. DoubleC Report post Posted September 1, 2012 J I'm with you on this. Nothing but free advertising for people who aren't leatherworkers. And since it's free to join, most of them even join, and make 2 or 3 posts, all about their retail things. It's spam I don't care how you spell it. They aren't competition even.....I doubt seriously leather workers are going to buy their junk when they could make quality things themselves, but it is annoying. Denise Report post Posted September 1, 2012 If you see stuff like this, please send in a report to the moderators. (There is a report button on the bottom left of every post.) We can't always keep up and if you send it in, someone will take a look at it. And thank you for taking the time to do so.
DoubleC Report post Posted September 1, 2012 Denise the only reason I don't do that is like Ferg I don't read the things, pretty easy to see which ones they are. But yesterday they had things in the gallery for cripes sake. I just don't understand their reasoning because I can't believe they sell leather things to leather workers. It's just an annoyance, sorry, not that big a deal. Just a small nit pick to me. Internet phone solicitors :-)
bluesman1951 Report post Posted September 1, 2012 That put a burr under my saddle as well . Not sure how to take it . We are all in business some large some small . I make a ton of bags lots of folks on here doing shows be nice to maybe hook up with them and see if they would carry my stuff . Does that make me bad thinking this ? No idea . What if I posted all my pictures like that ? Would some one be offended ?I can tell you this for sure not many would make what I am making and sell it at my prices . So we are all in this together why not lift each other up instead of making friction . One thing did cross my mind was "Gee Thanks For The Ideas " LOL !!!!!! I can make any bag I have 10 different ways each costing more than the others . I sell everything I make nearly as fast as I make it so really what does it matter ? If one of my ideas feeds your kids or helps with the bottom line then God Bless you ,someone else's ideas helped me get there any way . I am old !!!!! maybe I do this another 5 years and then it gets too dangerous to work with sharp tools or the diabetes takes my eye sight .Point is it just dont matter ,I have my time food and shelter and a adult beverage from time to time and the rest is just annoying crap. Lifes little details . Never going to stop this in a million years . Worse comes to worse we take our own idea and go to a third world country set up shop and start cranking stuff out . Cant beat them join them . There is a difference between a business and a hobby ,never expect to be payed for a hobby ,but if its a business then act that way treat it like a business smartest toughest guy wins . So what are you going to do with a huge pile of money on the last day ,aint going with you and more time is not for sale . DoubleC Report post Posted September 1, 2012 We aren't talking about you or other people who really are members, but the retailers of leather goods who come here, join, and post about their products, not to help or contribute to the forum. You know the difference. We have tons of members from all over the world and don't mean them. Cheryl LOL, Mike
Tina Report post Posted September 2, 2012 I really should'nt post this one but just to be clear, this is the kind of ads I don't want to see either, you'll find it on the front Forum page under: Recent Status Updates We have genuine passion for our leather Products and a commitment to provide an exceptional personal service to our customers. WE ARE REPLICA SPECIALIST. My guess is that this Pakistan based company will not contribute any help, patterns or "secrets" to the rest of us, Am I wrong??? DoubleC Report post Posted September 2, 2012 Exactly the kind of thing we're talking about. And the leather office supplies. If I want a leather pencil box I'll make it myself, not buy it. They're in the wrong place to sell leather goods which is kind of ironic. Cheryl
