Members stef73433 Posted February 9, 2013 Members Report Posted February 9, 2013 I got bag kote, applied it and it's all streaky. What's the trick? Not impressed so far.not sure how I will fix it? Quote
Members dbusarow Posted February 9, 2013 Members Report Posted February 9, 2013 I use a damp sponge to apply. You can apply another coat and it may help. Dan Quote Dan Busarow dan@fishcreekleatherworks.com http://www.fishcreekleatherworks.com/
Members Dwight Posted February 9, 2013 Members Report Posted February 9, 2013 Did you thin it down any with water? I don't remember, . . . I think it is 60/40, bag kote/water, . . . but it works for me that way. I put it on with a 1 inch wide brush. May God bless, Dwight Quote If you can breathe, . . . thank God. Members dbusarow Posted February 10, 2013 Members Report Posted February 10, 2013 Straight bag-kote will streak, but I've never had it that bad. My damp sponge technique seems to cut it just enough to work for me. Try applying more with the damp sponge and see if it helps even things out. Members stef73433 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Members Report Posted February 10, 2013 I did try that, no luck.so I resorted to acetone to get most off,I wiped it down good, then applied more dye to get even color back.I left out in front of fan for tonight, tomorrow is a new day, hopefully a less destructive one! LNLeather Posted February 16, 2013 Report Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) I just had the very same problem. I hate that - when you have spent so much time on something just to mess it up at the end... After the first coat dried it was all streaky. Yeikes! Then I figured I couldn't make it look any worse so I applied a second lite coat with a small scrap of cotton towel and in a circular motion. Just keep going around and around till it looks OK. *It looks just fine now - not a sign of a streak.
