Members kriggs Posted March 10, 2013 Members Report Posted March 10, 2013 I am looking for some tools for belt making. I probably can't afford a whole lot at this time, so individual items are welcome.
Northmount Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 I am looking for some tools for belt making. I probably can't afford a whole lot at this time, so individual items are welcome. Plain belts, carved and tooled belts, embossed belts? Tell us the type of stuff you want to do. Providing the right details gets to the answer with information that is useful to you sooner. Tom
Members kriggs Posted March 10, 2013 Author Members Report Posted March 10, 2013 I'm just looking for the basics for now like: Multi strap end punch English point punches Strap cutter Oblong punches (1/2"-1") Sewing awl Edge beveler I don't know what its called but the thing that protects your hand (righty) while you hand sew That's all I have for now because I only know what I need when I don't have it and that's happening in stages. I'm only trying to make plain belts for now and will see where that takes me. Once I get these I know ill run into a whole new set of items I need! Thanks for the reply
Members Ken Nelson Posted March 11, 2013 Members Report Posted March 11, 2013 english points can be hand cut with a round knife pretty easy, just a little practice.I build saddles and do some heavy duty hand sewing on them. I use white Johnson &Johnson tape to protect my hands while I am handsewing. I pull my harness needles with regular CeeTee pliers. HTH Ken
