Whenever I make a new or custom item that needs a full scale protype, I make a pattern set from stiff felt. It sews and stitches nicely and holds a shape very well. It is also

an economical way for me to test out my templates when it would otherwise involve a large piece of leather. Works so much better for this than cardboard sometimes.

I may be the last to know this but I thought I'd share.

Here is an update on the felt prototype. I made my husband a new windshield bag for his Harley. The Stingray was a last minute idea and I double laced it to match the color scheme on his Harley.

I am currently looking for felt with sizing in it to make it stiff..Any ideas where to find like 36 x 48 size sheets? About 1/8 " thick ..Thank you Itch

Thank you .I have tried many manufactures and have sent samples but no one was able to duplicate this material.It was used in the boot makeing industry years ago.

Call panhandle leather in Amarillo Texas, they have a web site. But if you call they might have what you are looking for or know where to get it. Good people to deal with. I know they have a lot of boot making supplies.
