Hello all,

A friend of mine, who's still in the Navy, asked if I could make a full function wallet small. After some trial and error, I finally came up with a design that I liked. He also asked to have a "USN" anchor and his rate/rank on it. I jumped on this one as I am a retired Sailor and have not yet done anything Navy related. This is what came off the work bench - enjoy.

Us Sailors love that anchor. On a small scale that chain gave me alll sorts of trouble though. Still pleased with the end product.

Thanks David.

Les, Thanks, shipmate. I have been retired for about 5 years and I got to feeling really nostalgic when my friend asked me to do this. Hooya.

Hey there

That is a good job, reminded me of an old pattern I have.

Thanks bear. How I did the chain - I took a jewelers screwdriver, filed the tip down a bit (to fit the curves) then just kinda pressed in the impressions. It took a while and my hand was pretty sore afterwards, but I think it turned out awesome. Thanks again.

I also used it for the lettering on the other side of the wallet. It was the only thing I could find that was small enough and slim enough to make the impressions I wanted.

Thanks again, Bear.

... AND thank you Ray. Say, Ray, you still have them mallet dies? I was looking for dimensions on a couple of them.

Lord Bless.

Thanks Vhakra. Like I said earlier, its the first "Navy" thing I've made since I retired (and since I started leatherwork).

Very cool wallet. I've just started trying my hand at them. The carving turned out very nice.

Thanks, Matt. It all started with my brother wanting a small full function wallet. This is what I cam up with and folks seem to like it. BTW, I dig the skull outline you did, sometimes less is more.
