damoomad Report post Posted September 17, 2013 Hello, I am really new to the forum, but this place has been a grt place, to help me start with a leather projects & crafts. after working for while, I decided to buy a machine and I need in terms of recommendations, feedbacks etc., in help buying cylinder arm machine. which is capable of using big thread and needle size to work with Bridle butt leather of 2 to 3 layer of 10 to 13 oz leather. I am considering of buying singer 45k89, with alternative foot. But, i read so many post and articles on this forum about foot marks left on the work piece (veg tan/bridle leathers). I looked around and I kind of made up my mind to go with adler 105-64 needle feed, which I believe can help in reducing the marks on the leather, since its a needle feed and i can grind the grooves on the feed dog! I will be delightful, if member of this forum can help me in deciding, to which cylinder arm machine to go for ? and where can I buy it from. People who are willing to sell their adler 105-45 or any cylinder arm sewing machine within uk, inbox me with price and other details? NB: I am not willing to spend too much, looking somewhere around 400£ to 500£ Any feedback or response will be very much appreciated. Thank you Quote MultiQuote Edit
RoyalLeatherDesigns Report post Posted September 17, 2013 You will not find a cylinder arm for that price the cheapest I have seen the Adler 105-64 is $ 2500 plus shipping or you can get a new Cobra for $ 2695
Leatherstrap1 Report post Posted September 20, 2013 Try wimbledon sewing machines (london)ask for ray. Ray has his own sewing machine museum there and is very knowledgable. Have you considered a BUSM pilot. They are very hard to source but really are the mutts nuts. Ray had one for sale a few months ago. Not sure if its still available but however he do manage to get other machines. I have a pearson 6 and a pilot for doing harness and they both do what I need. Pilot will do from 1-2 mm to 13 mm and pearson 6 will do fence panels with right needle. The busm machines are quite hard to find here in uk but do come up from time to time. My pilot took me 2 years to find. Then just like a bus (can't find one and when you do another turned up a fortnight later) hope this helps you

Jax Report post Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) Hi Damoomad, I think you'll struggle to find a decent 45K for that sort of money & Adlers are usually much more expensive, the only guy I can think of off hand is Hartley Sewing machines in Walsall, he repairs & deals with leather machinery all the time he is very good & knowledgeable....but he's not cheap, sorry I don't have any contact details. Constabulary Report post Posted September 23, 2013 (edited) If you can deal with an Adler 104-2 (flat bed) I would probably sell mine for 400€ + shipping. Its just the machine + some accessories, no stand and motor (easier to ship). Edited September 23, 2013 by Constabulary
