Finding Leather For Test Pieces?

Recommended Posts

New to this Leatherworking and forum so didn't know where to post my question...

Want to find out where you can get inexpensive pieces of leather of different types and thicknesses for practice and small projects?

My local farmers' CoOp sells bundles of scrap leather for repairs of tack...might try somewhere like that.

Hobby Lobby carries a very small selection of small pieces of leather, but it is very overpriced in my opinion.

Springfield usually has some craftsman grade or other deals on leather. Scroll down to "Special Purchases." At this point, I just grab it out of a box. I've got a bunch.

I like Hobby Lobby over all the big craft stores. But those grab bags have a lot of chrome tanned leather in them. That is a problem for certain things like holsters and sheaths.
