Hi everyone,

I need to replace my edgers and upgrade, the low-cost ones that I now have have seen there better days and they're hard to keep sharp.

Does anyone have an opinion on who makes the best edgers mostly #1 and #2 standard type?

I am aware of most of the makers and would like some input from someone who has experience with the better quality made edgers get alot of use, hold a good edge and cut smoothly.

Thanks

Thanks, Itch

Ron's tools are definitely being considered. I'm thankful for your response. Its good to hear from someone who's actually had experience with them.

Try Goods Japan. I've got a few from them recently and so far I'm very happy with them.

Cheers

It doesn't appear that Ron is set up to buy from on line.

Thanks, I saw that but I'd have to call him, place the order and then get a U.S money order and mail it to him.

It would less of an inconvenience to just order on line, use a card or PayPal ...and he'd likely get more business if he made it easier for people to purchase his tools.

I have a Goods Japan #3 and recently ordered a Barry King #2. The GJ works ok but the BK is like butter :) If I had to do it over again I would definitely get only Barry King edge bevelers.

I looked at Barry's site and his bevelers are numbered as opposed to an actual size so I'm not quite sure how the number relates to the actual opening.

Give Barry a call. He's a good guy and is happy to answer any and all questions about his tools. 307.672.5657

Or, just buy a whole set. You'll thank Barry (and me). I like his grooved edgers.

He might be off for the holidays.

I emailed him a week ago about making a stamp for me and I haven't heard from him yet.

I'll put my vote in for barry kings...I really think they are easier to control than Ron's, and are less expensive than Ron's. I do like Ron's tools as well, but i'd choose Barry's first.
