mikesmith648 Report post Posted December 22, 2013 Might also want to put a spring in there to make the jaws open when tension is released.....Just a suggestion Mike
EvadCarpenter Report post Posted December 22, 2013 Thanks Reaper, I hope to put it through it's paces during the holiday. Mike, I was extra sneaky and hid the spring under the movable jaw. (close up pic)

petersenj20 Report post Posted December 28, 2013 That's a beautiful piece of white oak. The figure is a perfect example of why I believe there may be equivalent exotic woods from around the world, but none better. Nice pony.

tjlenox Report post Posted January 1, 2014 Very nice work. I especially like the adjustable "tension rack" not sure of that's the right word for it. I'm sure that will get some good use out of it
Nuttish Report post Posted January 24, 2014 That's quite nice. I've been wanting to build a stitching pony. You know what the next question is, right? Would you please post your drawings? :-)
EvadCarpenter Report post Posted January 26, 2014 I'd be glad to, but I just kinda ad libbed the design from the book "the art of hand sewing leather" by Al Stohlman. The only difference being that the base is welded steel box tube. I cannot recommend that book enough, it has helped me immeasurably.
