Members EvadCarpenter Posted December 22, 2013 Members Report Posted December 22, 2013 Finally made something of that shipping pallet oak. Now i just have to make a cushion for it. Quote
Tree Reaper Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 That looks heavy duty, well done. Quote
Members mikesmith648 Posted December 22, 2013 Members Report Posted December 22, 2013 Might also want to put a spring in there to make the jaws open when tension is released.....Just a suggestion Mike Quote
Members EvadCarpenter Posted December 22, 2013 Author Members Report Posted December 22, 2013 Thanks Reaper, I hope to put it through it's paces during the holiday. Mike, I was extra sneaky and hid the spring under the movable jaw. (close up pic) Quote
Members bigorange Posted December 27, 2013 Members Report Posted December 27, 2013 beautiful ! love the idea of snagging a few pallets . I have wanted to buid one for some time and I this is very inspirational Quote
Members petersenj20 Posted December 28, 2013 Members Report Posted December 28, 2013 That's a beautiful piece of white oak. The figure is a perfect example of why I believe there may be equivalent exotic woods from around the world, but none better. Nice pony. Quote
Members EvadCarpenter Posted December 28, 2013 Author Members Report Posted December 28, 2013 Thanks for the kind words guys. Quote
Members tjlenox Posted January 1, 2014 Members Report Posted January 1, 2014 Very nice work. I especially like the adjustable "tension rack" not sure of that's the right word for it. I'm sure that will get some good use out of it Quote
Members Nuttish Posted January 24, 2014 Members Report Posted January 24, 2014 That's quite nice. I've been wanting to build a stitching pony. You know what the next question is, right? Would you please post your drawings? :-) Quote
Members EvadCarpenter Posted January 26, 2014 Author Members Report Posted January 26, 2014 I'd be glad to, but I just kinda ad libbed the design from the book "the art of hand sewing leather" by Al Stohlman. The only difference being that the base is welded steel box tube. I cannot recommend that book enough, it has helped me immeasurably. Quote
