Hey, brother. If you don't mind me asking, what tools are you using to carve your portraits? I think I might give a portrait a try and would appriciate any pointers I could get.

absolutely stunning!!!! i've never seen one with so many sections, i am currently trying to do my first seat for a customer, i am having a difficult time trying to figure out how to do the sides. would it be easier to put several pieces together, or one long wrap around? the seat is similar to the one you have hear, except we had to shave the foam down for him.

I wrap paper around the seat then I trace around the seat on the side the foam is on. This will give you the complex curve shape of the seat. I then use a compass to transpose the line to the bottom this gives me my pattern for the side pieces. I usually do two side pieces and stitch them together. I will add extra length to the bottom of the pattern dependent on how I'm going to attach the leather to the seat pan.
