kevinp Report post Posted January 28, 2014 Hi I have been working on a pair of Vambraces for one of my friends, they are carved with the viking symbol Mjolnir, Thors Hammer. Al the carving is now finished and I am waiting for them to dry before applying the finish. They will have two poppers fitted and a black cord.

Renaissanceman Report post Posted January 30, 2014 Greetings, Very nice carving/tooling. If I may suggest adding eyelets to the lace holes and adding a lining. Just a thought. Keep up the good work.

ReneeCanady Report post Posted January 31, 2014 thanks Jayjay Can I ask is there a reason why nobody comments on my leather work, Nicely done Kevin The best I can answer why no one comments is I think people tend to comment on the things they are in to and best fits what they like. It's what I told myself when I first started leather work anyway. Sometimes I would spend weeks working on one item and couldn't wait to upload it for a few "pats on the back" only to see that I had something crazy like 200 views and 1 comment lol. I think we all know this feeling one way or another. Keep up the good work

Renaissanceman Report post Posted February 3, 2014 Quick question to the group. I have been making bracers/gauntlets for a few years now and curious what is the difference with them and Vambraces? Is it the length, style or cut? Any comments welcome Renman
Sleez Report post Posted February 3, 2014 very nice, as a newbie; how long did it take to get to that point? actual time on the project? thanks
kevinp Report post Posted February 3, 2014 Thanks for all the nice comments. Cuffs would be short may be up to 3-4 inches when they are longer as in these around 7 inches we call them vambraces. Sleeze there is around eight hours in these at this point but does not include the design, and the final finish. Tom who now owns these and commissioned them did not want eyelets or linings, the problem with eyelets he said is that they are hard to do up by yourself as the lace is always coming loose. These were finished at the end of last week and then passed onto Tom they were finished in plain black, he did want to have the vines painted green but after doing some samples it was decided that this would not suit Toms look. I will post the pictures later.
kevinp Report post Posted February 3, 2014 Thanks Renee I agree with you its nice to get complements and comments from others apart from ours friends and family who are slightly biased towards our work.
