Basket Stamping And A Makers Mark

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm building a pair of chinks and am having trouble with stamping around my makers mark. I thought I should stamp the mark first since I want it to be very clean looking, but now I'm not sure how to go about getting the basketweave right up to the edges without overlapping. Attached is a pic of how far I've gotten

Same thing with the border stamp. I probably should have stamped the mark up higher but it's too late now. How does one normally go about using a makers mark with a basket stamp?

Thanks!

It looks okay. If I may make a suggestion.......I would take a different border stamp and stamp around the ring of your maker's mark. It do this often. It will cover up the dead space you are considering covering the blank areas.

What I do is find a small border tool, smaller than the one used on the outside of the basket and go around your makers mark. I don't have access to my pictures but will try to post one latter.

looks nice to me,,,imho

the dead space lends to your marks visibility which and is what I would want and not overpowering/glaring

who says it has to it need s to be right up to or filled to the boarder of you makers mark

I bevel around the makers mark, then use a different (either smaller or different shaped) border tool around the makers mark. I think you will be surprised how much the bevel will stand out your makers mark. HTH Ken

Hello

I'm new to the trade and need a stamp fabricated for my maker's mark. I'd prefer a stamp to leave an impression vs. a brand just to discolor. Can someone point me in the right direction?

I just got a makers mark from Gray Ghost Graphics. Ordered it last Monday and got it on Thurs! Super fast and the stamp

was very reasonably priced. They have a web site.
