hemetictradingco Report post Posted February 11, 2014 Hey everyone, Matt here with the Hemetic Trading Co. I've been finding a lot of the answers I've been looking for in the forums here, but I've finally come across something that I'm not sure has been asked. Maybe there's a reason for that... but I'll ask anyways. So the question I have is, does anyone know a supplier of pre-shaped die cuts for leather pull tabs, to be used with zippers. I've found suppliers who sell pre-made leather pull tabs, but I'd prefer to use the leather I already have in stock to keep things consistent. On the other hand, I've found suppliers who will make custom dies, but they don't seem to have any pre-shaped dies for leather pull tabs. It seems like a common enough embellishment that there should be a source who can supply just the dies. Just for reference, I'm looking for a die that can cut a similar pull tab to the one in this image: Am I looking for something that doesn't exist? Or does someone on here have a supplier for a die like this? If not, I suppose we can get some custom dies made, I was just hoping to save a bit of time and cash! Thanks in advance for the help, I'm looking forward to being a member of this community! -Matt w/ Hemetic

Andrew Chee Report post Posted February 12, 2014 You can get something like that made probably in the $40-50 range. Not sure if that would be considered expensive or cheap to you... Andrew
Itch Report post Posted February 12, 2014 As small as that is you should be able to draw it on a piece of paper scan it and email it to some die companies for a price. Put all of the dimensions on it and you should be all good..
hemetictradingco Report post Posted February 12, 2014 Hey Guys, Thanks for the responses. As of right now, that's what the plan is. I don't mind spending the 40-50 on the die, I was just hoping to find a source that already has pre-made pull tab dies. It seems like a pretty common thing to do, so I was hoping there was a short cut available. Sounds like I'll have to design my own shape and have it custom made. Thanks again for the help! camano ridge Report post Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) Give Texas Custom Dies a call, you never know they might have made one and if not they certainly can make one for you. Edited February 12, 2014 by camano ridge
Treed Report post Posted February 12, 2014 Take your draw gauge and cut a long strip to width. Take the long strip and cut it up into the lengths you need. Place cuts that you need and place on zipper. This method you can cut different lengths and widths to fit any zipper and not have to have multiple dies. You can cut a dozen or more in the time and effort it would take to cut five with the press.
