MonicaJacobson Report post Posted February 12, 2014 Hey all, I found this bag onlins: http://scoutmob.com/p/Brown-Leather-Messenger-Bag?ref=cat_new&m=HardPin&sort=recommended&signup=0&via=HardPin&source=Pinterest&medium=HardPin&campaign=type4&utm_source=Pinterest&utm_medium=HardPin&utm_campaign=type4&utm_content=1327 (The picture attached is their bag) It seems very nice, and I bought the same leather, and I've been trying to decide what to do with it. I wanted to ask if there was any reason why I do not commonly see the stitching technique they used for the sides of their bag? Is it a bad idea? Thanks! Dwight Report post Posted February 12, 2014 For me, . . . it would force me to hand sew a large portion of it as my machine would not easily handle that stitching chore. What I would probably do is mark it and use my sewing machine to make the holes in the outside layer, . . . glue it together and hand stitch it. I actually like that look, the way they did it, . . . and it is a means to discourage copycats, . . . lots of folks would say to heck with it, . . . to complicated. May God bless, Dwight
JLSleather Report post Posted February 12, 2014 I like the look, but to machine stitch that (with the top stitch like that) might require a patcher, or a post-bed (?).
electrathon Report post Posted February 12, 2014 For $425 for such a simple bag I would gladly do a couple hours of handsewing. It looks good the way it is stitched.
MonicaJacobson Report post Posted February 12, 2014 Heh, thanks you guys. Yes, I just wanted to make sure that way of putting it together wasn't in ill taste or something. I really like it myself, though I dare say it'd be a bit of a pain to stitch. And yes, much as I like the bag, for $425, I think they should add some stitches to attach the straps.
