dpip4x4 Report post Posted March 3, 2014 So I haven't been doing this as long as most of you have, just my first year of this still. I get as many tools as i can when i can afford them. I received my leather burnishers.com cocobolo drill style holster makers special on Friday. http://www.leatherburnishers.com/Burnishers_for_Drills.html I can not tell you how much of a difference this has made. I made a couple of oak pieces to do the same and i have the tandy plastic wheel and hand burnisher tool, this tool has taken my edges to a whole new level. I just can not endorse them enough and for the price $38 shipped WOW!! You owe it to yourselves to just try one i guarantee you won't be disappointed. Mudruck Report post Posted March 3, 2014 I've been using Bearmans burnishers for a number of years now and absolutely LOVE them. I would have to say the maul he made for me is my absolute favorite tool on the desk, followed closely by the burnishers.

Sanch Report post Posted August 11, 2014 I've got a burnisher exactly like the holstermakers special made out of 304 SS attached to a 1/3HP 1750 rpm motor it was a gift from a machinist buddy who over heard me talking to some one about the tool. it works fabulous but I still find my self using my cherry wood hand made burnisher and delrin Tandy stlye burnisher

Worth every penny.

Sadly, I do not have any friends that are machinists to make one for me...sounds like it would work nicely...
Chief31794 Report post Posted August 11, 2014 I've had Bearman's Holster Maker Burnisher for a couple of years now, it does a good job, however, I still mostly hand burnish, I can't get as good of an edge with the cocobolo that I can from my hand burnishers, I have several wooden hand burnishers (never liked the plastic ones from Tandy) and I seem to have better control and get a better edge from them. Everyone else seems to really like these burnishers, maybe I'm doing something wrong with it. Don't get me wrong it will put a slicked edge on the piece, just not as good of an edge as I can get with a hand burnisher and/or canvas. I use it to start the edge, then I normally finish the edge by hand. Chief
