well here it is , i bought a swivel knife and a few basic tools , some times i find the knife hops a little on the leather .... any idea why ?post-49163-0-41029100-1393969266_thumb.j

did you get one with a steel blade or ceramic? Also, make sure you case the leather properly. One thing I found that helped was the carving additive that Tandy sells ( https://www.tandyleatherfactory.ca/en-cad/search/searchresults/2621-02.aspx )

its a steel blade .. by case you mean dampen the leather ?

I think you did great, especially for your first attempt.

Also, a blade that is not sharp/stropped will cause jumping as well. You have to strop your blade even if it's new out of the package. They usually come sharp to the touch but not stropped or polished.
