2rgrbn Report post Posted June 30, 2014 Hello all very helpful site you have here, after reading here for a while I decided the Consew 206RB-5 fit my applications so I have one now. It has the servo motor and the flip up guide installed. I have a few questions please. 1. What is the heaviest thread that can be used? 2. Any do's and don'ts or modifications advise based on your experience? I should add I have always hand sewn so I know nothing about sewing machines this is square 1 for me so any advise is welcome and appriciated.
TXAG Report post Posted June 30, 2014 You might want to obtain the manual for your machine as that will contain things like which thread sizes it can use. If you don't know how to sew using a machine, I would highly recommend going to youtube and checking out some of their video tutorials for basic machine operation prior to trying to operate the machine. JLSleather Report post Posted June 30, 2014 Your machine will sew 1/4" thick material fairly easily, though I wouldn't put it through much heavier than that. Pretty sure you can go up to #23 needle and 207 thread.
Ferg Report post Posted June 30, 2014 Your machine will sew 207 with 138 in the bobbin. Doesn't really do well with the 207. I have used 69 thru- 135 with no difficulties. I have done a few adjustments to mine and actually sewn nearly 3/8" but it is hard on the machine since it was intended for medium to light work. Hold at 1/4" if at all possible, machine will last longer. Keystone Sewing Machine has a great copy of the manual. URL: http://www.keysew.com/ They also have or can get for you many of the accessories for the machine. Bob Kovar at Toledo Industrial URL: http://www.tolindsewmach.com/ Has many of the accessories also. ferg
2rgrbn Report post Posted July 1, 2014 Thanks, I signed up for a class while at the thread store so hopefully that will help as well, "Leatherworker" I actually have a manual and have done an extensive search on the internet and couldn't find the answer maybe because they don't publish it or I don't know enough about what I am reading. For now I am going with Tex 90 and a 140 needle. Once I have gained some more knowledge about tensioning etc. I may go bigger on the top. Wallet guts and Biker Chaps / Vests are the heaviest it will see anyways.................Thanks for the help
Wizcrafts Report post Posted July 1, 2014 For Tex 90 (v92), use a #19, or #20 needle maximum.
