Evo160K Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 While reassembling an older machine that I took apart to clean, I managed to ruin one of the taper pins. Honestly, the beer had nothing to do with it! I found a couple of companies that have them, but only sell them in bags of 25. The pin is a DIN 1 metric 3mm x 22mm. Would anyone know where I can buy that size taper pin individually or in a smaller quantity? Thank you. Quote
Members cdthayer Posted August 10, 2014 Members Report Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) After the third time, I just hang up the wrenches and go drink beer. Sometimes, buying a box of 25 is not a bad idea. CD in Oklahoma Edited August 10, 2014 by cdthayer Quote "I sew, I sew, so it's off to work I go....." Evo160K Posted August 10, 2014 Author Report Posted August 10, 2014 It may come to buying 25, but that kind of excess just goes against my nature. Quote
Members cdthayer Posted August 10, 2014 Members Report Posted August 10, 2014 Thanks for not blasting me for having fun with your triple post. I’ve been having problems posting too, and I was just having a little fun.As to your quantity problem: The problem is, that most companies have figured out that everything that they sell needs to generate a minimum of profit margin to make pulling the parts and shipping them feasible. Back in the day, those small quantities that cost more money to provide than they brought in, were simply averaged out with the larger sales. They thought it was good for business to take a loss on an order every now and then, because the larger sales would offset them. Nowadays, with the new trimmed-down bottom lines, they package things in larger quantities to help keep from having those extremely negative income occurrences, and they’re working on eliminated the negative orders all-together. My wife and I run into the same thing when buying merchandise for resale. Our Distributors make us buy a minimum quantity of everything, or we can’t buy any.I’ll get back out of here now, in hopes that someone else can provide you with a smaller quantity to help you out.CD in Oklahoma Quote "I sew, I sew, so it's off to work I go....." Members Constabulary Posted August 11, 2014 Members Report Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) Is it for your CLAES patcher? try a roll bin instead, they are available ins dozens of sizes. I also ruined a pin at my 29K71 and replaced it with a roll pin and it works perfect. http://www.ebay.com/itm/M3-3MM-x-22-22MM-Roll-Spring-Pin-Metric-PK-10-/231295793444?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35da4db924 But you may find them cheaper local at hardware store or so. Evo160K Posted August 11, 2014 Author Report Posted August 11, 2014 Thanks one and all, I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions. Turns out McMaster.com has a pack of 10 for $5.82 plus freight, that's more palatable. Constabulary: Yes, it is for that patcher. I would have used a roll pin like you suggested.....good idea. Thank you. Quote
