dhaverstick Report post Posted August 14, 2014 I made these for a couple of guys I met on the traditional archery forum, TradGang. Both are made from ostrich leg skin and backed with vegetable-tanned cowhide. The trim is deer hide and I carved the lace hooks from deer antler and then stained them with aniline dye. Everything was sewn by hand using artificial sinew. Darren

dhaverstick Report post Posted August 20, 2014 Thanks! Here's another one I just finished for a friend of mine. This one is elephant hide backed with vegetable-tanned cowhide and trimmed in deer.
Mlitton Report post Posted August 20, 2014 Wow....I wanna be one of your friends LOL Seriously though, I love it. Your stitching is sweet and I love the way you use the antler for clasps. I use a lot of antler too but have never thought to use it in that way. Bravo!
MonicaJacobson Report post Posted August 20, 2014 Those are awesome. I can't even say which one is the coolest.
billybopp Report post Posted August 20, 2014 Really nice work! And certainly nicer than the piece of cardboard that I taped to my arm when Mom wouldn't pay $10.00 for a proper arm-guard when I was a kid! Bill
Dan28 Report post Posted August 20, 2014 Green being my favorite color, I really liked the first two, but that elephant one is also really nice looking. I don't even own a bow, but now I want to go shoot my dad's compound bow.
