deloid Report post Posted September 2, 2014 (edited) I see there are two books in Japanese (Tankkobon Hardcover) about wallet designs and making. They are quite pricey. Anyone own any of these? Are they useful for design ideas or as a making guide? Thanks Dean Edited September 2, 2014 by deloid
LeatherLegion Report post Posted September 2, 2014 (edited) You can probably buy the Chinese ones for a bit cheaper...same books translated in Chinese. Look them up on etsy. The pictures are worth a thousand words...lol...I would say they are useful if you are getting into making wallets Edited September 2, 2014 by LeatherLegion
deloid Report post Posted September 2, 2014 Thank you! I would love to find out if there is a less expensive subscription based fee for these books as they come out. Anyone know of a contact in Japan that can find out?
rlkey Report post Posted September 2, 2014 I've been into these Japanese/Chinese leathercraft books for a while now and they are full of useful information and tips, in my opinion. If you purchase actual hard copies of these books, most of them come with full size pull-out patterns. I also have several of the older books in pdf format and can send you one of the wallet books if you're interested in checking it out before buying, since they are pretty pricey. The photos are really detailed and unless you read Chinese/Japanese, that's all they're really good for...
tanda4 Report post Posted September 10, 2014 Do you have any links to these books?
King's X Report post Posted September 11, 2014 I have almost the entire collection and I ditto the comments above. They are very informative and most times patterns are included. I purchase my books on ebay from a seller called CharmingBabe. I believe she is also on Esty. She is based out of San Francisco and has a good rate for shipping. Good luck! SteelheadFineGoods Report post Posted December 11, 2014 goodsjapan has several Japanese leathercraft books. They're pretty helpful if you don't already have experience making wallets. Even if you don't read Japanese, the photos in these books pretty much tell it all. Also, get used to measuring and cutting in metric, if you don't already.
