Ambassador leatheroo Posted November 1, 2008 Ambassador Report Posted November 1, 2008 I was asked to make a couple of mask for a 2 1/2 year old girl! It was left up to me to decide what to make, so here they are. One crown and one butterfly. Quote "]http://leatheroo.blogspot

Contributing Member UKRay Posted November 1, 2008 Contributing Member Report Posted November 1, 2008 Absolutely lovely, she will be so pleased - but i'm keen to know how do they do up? Do you fix strings or elastic or something? They look too fine and delicate to support anything too thick or strong... Tipus Posted November 1, 2008 Report Posted November 1, 2008 Roo, You are a great inspiration for me thank you T Quote
Ambassador leatheroo Posted November 1, 2008 Author Ambassador Report Posted November 1, 2008 ray, they are not delicate at all. After the leather drys it become quite stiff, this makes them tough masks for kids and should last a long time. i use thin hat elastic in a double strand. two little holes on both sides. cheers Quote "]http://leatheroo.blogspot
Members russell Posted November 2, 2008 Members Report Posted November 2, 2008 WHAT WEIGHT LEATHER DO YOU USE Quote
Ambassador leatheroo Posted November 2, 2008 Author Ambassador Report Posted November 2, 2008 russell, our leather is measured in millimetres as a thickness. the leather i used was veg tanned calf skin. it was sold as 1.2mm, sometimes i use 2mm, but never any thicker as it is to hard to mold. cheers Quote "]http://leatheroo.blogspot
Members Surveyor Posted November 2, 2008 Members Report Posted November 2, 2008 that works out to about 3-4 leather Quote

hidepounder Posted November 5, 2008 Report Posted November 5, 2008 I was asked to make a couple of mask for a 2 1/2 year old girl! It was left up to me to decide what to make, so here they are. One crown and one butterfly. Beautifully done! I assume you air brush, but do use dye?...it looks more like acrylics...but won't they crack or peel? Great job! Quote
Ambassador leatheroo Posted November 7, 2008 Author Ambassador Report Posted November 7, 2008 hidepounder, the paint is acrylic, but it is promoted as being flexible and suitable for leather...never had any cracking or peeling. This airbrush paint is made locally in my home town. Quote "]http://leatheroo.blogspot
