Red White & Blue Holster

Here I am again. I tried to post this and forgot and clicked on the image icon. Why is this image icon even on here. If I click on it all I can do is close down and start over again. Quite frustrating.

Here we go again.

I just finished up this holster last evening. I am not sure I like it and would not choose it for myself. I did enjoy putting it together though. The dye is Navy Blue Fiebings. The lace I purchased from Springfield Leather. This has to be the thickest lace I have ever worked with. It is super strong. This is the first time I have ever laced with two colors of lace at the same time.

Hi Rohn, i am a total beginner to leatherwork, i quite like the colourscheme it works well together and shows me that not all leatherwork has to be black or tan, could you plaese tell me do you just dye the leather and then add a finish coat on top, or is it much more involved than that.

I just dyed the leather and then finished it with Tan Kote.

Actually on this one I dyed the holster then whip stitched it with a cheap plastic lace so I could fit the gun in it. I then wet the holster fit the gun and after it was dry I cut out the lace. Then I put Tan Kote on it. I did this so the blue would not rub off on my colored lace. After lacing it again with the red and white lace I gave it all another coat of Tan Kote.

Wow thanks rohn, i am impressed with how well the dye has dyed the leather, my dream is to get into the carving and colouring side of leatherwork i always think the coloured items look particularly nice, thanks for the info, i hope i get to learn more from you in time, back to my first project a plain belt for now though.Take care.

I have to agree with you Rohn, not exactly a color scheme I would go with for myself but regardless of the color, it still looks great and as always, wonderful to see your work. Just curious about the bottom strap, is it just for looks or does it unsnap and have a purpose?

Thanks for the nice comments. That bottom strap actually holds the belt loop in place.

I noticed the screws attaching it but wasn't sure if they went all the way through but I can see now how you did it with the strap going around the front that way keeping the screws from having to go through to the inside and touching the gun

Nice holster, interesting and Patriotic color choice. I don't do much lacing I have done double loop lacing but not with 2 different colors of lace.

I showed it to my wife, she said,"someone worked really hard to make that ugly holster."
