Members Aidanforsyth0 Posted December 5, 2014 Members Report Posted December 5, 2014 I do know I have posted about learher suppliers before. I'm looking for 3/4 or 4/5 ounce chromexcel. I can only find Sheridan leather (which doesn't have any in stock at the moment) and maverick leather (which is all second quality horween leather) and the tannery row (which I hear has a wait time of 6 weeks) if someone could point me in the right direction that'd be great. Members MonicaJacobson Posted December 7, 2014 Members Report Posted December 7, 2014 Hmmm... as far as I know, the only way to get 1st quality Horween is to buy it in bulk or from Tannery Row. If there's another way, tell me! Basically, from what I've read you can buy it from Tannery Row, Maverick, or Springfield (they don't seem to have anything but 9 oz right now), or you can buy off-cuts from other members or shoe stores. Some people bought pieces from Aurora Shoe Company... you could try that.I know you want to say you use prime quality leather, but a lot of hides from Maverick are probably there because there are some blemishes or scars you can work around. Just because Horween couldn't sell the whole hide as perfect doesn't mean that the piece you're using would be faulty or inferior if you have the staff at Maverick do a good choosing job.... Sorry, not much help. Let me know if you find a supplier. Quote
Members RoosterShooter Posted December 7, 2014 Members Report Posted December 7, 2014 There hasn't been any at all available for the last month or so, and a lot of companies are keeping inventory down due to Christmas and the end of the year. They're also keeping inventory down due to the fact that a lot of them have to pay an inventory tax and that's just a hassle. When you find some .... buy double what you think you'll need. Quote
Members SteelheadFineGoods Posted December 11, 2014 Members Report Posted December 11, 2014 I suggest that you order from Tannery Row or Maverick. Maverick's stock can be somewhat limited but they are really helpful and have different sides coming in pretty frequently. Tannery Row can have a significant wait time but as long as you can wait you'll get exactly what you're looking for. I have not had much luck finding thinner CXL from Springfield and I think their colors might be somewhat limited. Quote
Members rhinez0r Posted December 13, 2014 Members Report Posted December 13, 2014 I've had good luck with Maverick - Tannery Row is always worth the wait though. Anywhere else and companies are just going to gouge you. Quote
